Special Purpose Articles

The Baltic Content Framework uses some articles for special purposes. Here's what you should know.

Basics

Special purpose articles are created and configured like any other article, but have special uses that are applied at the domain level. In domain configuration, you specify the article id of special purpose articles on the handlers tab. The articles you specify must be published; if not, the corresponding functionality is disabled.

404

If an article can't be found, either because the url is incorrect, or the article is unpublished, the system displays the article you specify here. If a 404 happens and you don't configure this value, the system throws a fatal error.

503

If you take the site offline, the system displays the article you specify here. If you don't configure this value, the value of the 404 handler is used in its place.

Tag Handler

If you use tags, the article you specify here is used to display a list of articles with the selected tag. If you use tags, but do not configure this value, the system will not display tags. The article you specify here must be configured to use the Tag Display plugin.

Author Handler

If you use author links, the article you specify here is used to process the author token that is passed in the url to this location. The article you specify here must be configured to use the Author Display plugin (or comparable) to show the author information. If you don't configure this value, the system does not create author links.
